Rebroadcast to Twitch, YouTube and Kick
Send one stream to Xive and Xive sends a copy on to every other platform you turn on. Your upload, your PC and your OBS setup stay exactly as they are.
How rebroadcasting works
Normally, streaming to two platforms means your computer encodes and uploads two streams. With rebroadcasting you send one stream to Xive, and Xive’s servers forward a copy to each destination you have turned on.
- Less upload. A 6 Mbps stream sent to Xive and Twitch yourself needs 12 Mbps of upload. Rebroadcast through Xive, it needs 6, however many platforms it goes to.
- Less load on your PC. One encode, one upload, on the same machine that runs your game.
- Nothing extra to run. No second OBS output, no plugin, no paid restreaming service.
Set up your Xive stream first if you haven’t: Set up your stream on Xive.
What your plan allows
| Free | Xive Pro | |
|---|---|---|
| Destinations you can save | 5 | 5 |
| Destinations on at the same time | 1 | 5 |
On the free plan you can keep several platforms set up and switch which one is on. See plans and pricing.
Step 1: Open Rebroadcast
Go to Creator Studio → Rebroadcast (thexive.com/live-dashboard/rebroadcast). Nothing changes in OBS: you keep streaming to Xive exactly as you do now, and each destination that is on gets a copy.
Step 2a: Twitch and Kick, the one-click way
- 1
Under Connect an account, choose Connect Twitch or Connect Kick and approve Xive on that site.
- 2
Xive fetches your stream key and adds the destination for you. There is no key to copy. It is added turned off, so linking an account never starts streaming anywhere by surprise.
- 3
Turn the destination On.
A connected Twitch or Kick account also keeps your title and category in sync: set them once on Xive and they follow you there. If the card says Reconnect needed, press Reconnect and approve again.
Step 2b: Any other platform, by stream key
Choose Add a destination, pick the platform to fill in its server, then paste the stream key from that platform:
| Platform | Server (filled in for you) | Where the stream key is |
|---|---|---|
| YouTube | rtmp://a.rtmp.youtube.com/live2 | YouTube Studio → Go live → Stream key |
| Twitch | rtmp://live.twitch.tv/app | Creator Dashboard → Settings → Stream → Primary Stream key |
| Kick | rtmps://fa723fc1b171.global-contribute.live-video.net | Kick → Settings → Stream Key |
| rtmps://live-api-s.facebook.com:443/rtmp | Facebook Live Producer → Stream key | |
| Anything else | Any rtmp://, rtmps:// or srt:// server | That service’s stream settings |
Xive checks that the server answers when you add it, so a typo shows up straight away. Your key is stored encrypted and never shown again, only its last 4 characters. If you regenerate it on the other platform, remove the destination and add it again with the new key.
YouTube: use your default “Stream now” key. In YouTube Studio → Go live → Stream, copy the stream key of the default stream. That key goes live on its own the moment video arrives. A key from a scheduled or one-off event does not: YouTube receives the video but your stream never starts.
YouTube can’t be connected with one click yet, and it does not get title sync, so set your YouTube title there.
Step 3: Go live as normal
Turn on the destinations you want, then press Start Streaming in OBS. When Xive goes live, every destination that is on goes live too, and they stop when you stop. Destinations stay set up for every future broadcast until you turn them off or remove them, so this is a one-time setup.
- Turn destinations on before you go live. Destinations you add start working the next time you go live from this account.
- Titles. Twitch and Kick follow your Xive title and category when connected. Every other platform keeps whatever title it had last, so update it there.
- Quality. Each platform gets the same stream you send Xive, so use settings every platform accepts. The ones in the setup guide do: H.264, CBR, 2-second keyframes, AAC audio, and no AMD hardware encoder.
Things to avoid
- Don’t also stream to the same platform from OBS. If Twitch is on in Xive, remove Twitch from any OBS output, or you will send it two streams.
- Don’t send Xive through a “Multiple RTMP outputs” plugin. Stream to Xive from OBS’s main Settings → Stream and let Xive do the rest.
- Check each platform’s own rules. Some partner and affiliate agreements have terms about streaming to more than one platform at a time. Those are between you and that platform.
Troubleshooting
“Free accounts can stream to one other platform at a time”
You already have a destination on. Turn it off first, or get Xive Pro to have up to 5 on at once.
The destination shows an error
The message is the other platform’s own reason. Most often the key is wrong or was regenerated there: remove the destination and add it again with the current key.
YouTube receives video but never goes live
You are using a scheduled event’s key. Use the default “Stream now” key instead (see above).
The other platform shows a green or black picture
Fix it at the source: switch OBS away from the AMD encoder to x264 or NVENC, as the setup guide explains.
