Friends are chosen. Discovery is recommended. The user stays in control.
Your feed should know you. It should not control you. This page explains, in plain language, what the XIVE feed pays attention to and every control you have over it.
What the feed pays attention to
-
Time well spent. How long people actually stop on a post, and how much of a video or Short they watch. Finishing a video, or watching it again, counts more than scrolling past.
-
Positive engagement. Likes, reactions, saves and shares. Saving something is one of the strongest signals there is, because it means you want to come back to it.
-
Comments, without rewarding arguments. Comments count, but comments alone do not make something win. A post that is all argument and no approval does not get pushed just because it caused a fight.
-
Who you follow and watch. Friends and people you follow come first. Creators you keep watching rank higher for you, and so do creators who are popular with people who share your taste.
-
Freshness. Newer posts get a head start, and posts you have already seen sink so the feed keeps moving instead of repeating itself.
-
Variety. No single creator can take over your screen, and new posts get a fair chance to be seen before the feed decides how well they are doing.
No content labels, no guessing
XIVE does not sort posts into topics or guess what a post is about. Recommendations come from behaviour: who you watch, follow and engage with, and who people with similar taste enjoy. That is why the reasons we show you name real creators instead of vague topics.
Room for smaller creators
Part of every feed is set aside for new and smaller creators, so discovery is not only for the biggest accounts. Everyone gets a chance to be seen.
LIVE and Rising LIVE
Live streams are ranked by how engaged the room is: people staying, chatting, following and coming back. Rising LIVE highlights streams that are gaining momentum, even with only a handful of viewers.
Your controls
-
Why am I seeing this? Open the menu on a recommended post to see the reason it was picked, and change it from there.
-
Not interested. Removes that post and shows you less from that creator for a while. It is about the post, not a verdict on the person.
-
Hide a creator. Their posts, streams and Shorts stop appearing in your feeds. They are not told, and you can undo it any time in Feed Preferences.
-
Block. Removes someone from your feeds and stops them contacting you.
-
Reset My Discovery. Clears what the feed has learned about your taste so you are not stuck with old viewing habits. Hidden creators and blocks stay in place.
-
Fresh Start. Browse for a while without your history shaping Discovery, useful when your interests change. Everything comes back when it ends.
