Changelog

Changes to the Xive developer platform, newest first. Breaking changes are announced here before they take effect and are marked Breaking. Additive changes, such as new fields in a response, can arrive at any time, so ignore fields you don't recognise.

11 October 2026: catch-up, revocation and subscriber totals

11 October 2026: app directory and connected apps

  • The app directory lists verified public apps for creators to browse, with an "Add to my channel" button. Set what yours asks for in the Console's Directory listing card. See App directory.
  • Users can see and disconnect apps they signed in to under Settings → Connected apps.

11 October 2026: category sync

  • PATCH /api/apps/channels/{channelId}/stream now also sets the category on a creator's connected Twitch and Kick channels when it can be matched exactly. The response gains twitch_category_synced and kick_category_synced (additive).

11 October 2026: launch

The streaming developer platform is live at thexive.com/developers.

Apps and access

  • The developer Console: create apps, manage secrets, and upload an icon. Registration includes OAuth redirect URLs, a category and a client type (confidential or public). Creating an app requires accepting the Developer Agreement and Developer Policy.
  • Organizations: teams own apps together, with owner, admin and developer roles.
  • Creators add apps to their channel with a consent link, choosing from nine scopes.
  • OAuth: authorization code with PKCE, refresh token rotation, validate, revoke and client credentials. Tokens work only on the bot API, never on posts, profiles, messages or payments.
  • App review: public apps on more than 50 channels need Xive's verification before more creators can add them. Verified apps show a ✓. Developers can ask for review from the Console.

API

  • Chat: send, reply and read messages. Moderation: delete, time out, ban and unban. Also chat settings, pinned messages, VIPs and chat commands.
  • Stream: title and category, and raids. Channel points: rewards, the redemption queue, resolving redemptions and chests.
  • Polls and predictions. Predictions use channel points only; if nobody picked the winning outcome, everyone is refunded.
  • App panels: a data panel on the channel page, rendered by Xive.
  • Drops for game studios: campaigns, viewer claims, and the entitlements API.
  • Public lookups: users, live channels, categories, and a channel's goals, replays and schedule.
  • Rate limit: 800 requests a minute per app, with Ratelimit-* headers. Chat sends are limited separately to 20 per 30 seconds per channel. See Rate limits & errors.
