Developer policies
Creators trust your app with their chat and their community. These rules keep that trust. They are a summary; the full terms apply to every app.
The rules
- Don't spam chat. Post only what the creator added your app to do. The rate limit is a ceiling, not a target. No unsolicited ads, links or repeated messages.
- Respect removal. When a creator removes your app or a scope, stop at once, and delete the data you hold from their channel within 30 days. Don't pressure them to re-add it, and don't try to keep acting on their channel another way.
- Use only the access you were given. Ask for the fewest scopes you need and use each only for the purpose you told the creator about.
- No scraping of private data. Don't collect, store or sell viewers' or creators' personal data beyond what your app needs to work. Don't build profiles of viewers across channels. Keep chat messages only as long as your app needs them, and never longer than 30 days unless the creator asks you to.
- Don't impersonate. Your app must not pretend to be Xive, Xive staff, a creator, a moderator or any other user, in its name, icon or messages.
- Keep secrets safe. Application and webhook secrets stay on your server. If one leaks, revoke or rotate it right away.
- Follow the Community Guidelines. Everything your app posts is held to the same Community Guidelines as a person's message, and the content filter applies to bots too.
- Be clearly a bot. No gambling or “send money to win” schemes, no taking payments from viewers in chat, and no asking viewers for passwords or personal details.
- Moderate fairly. A moderation bot acts on the creator's behalf and shows up in their moderation log. Only take actions the creator set it up to take.
Enforcement
Xive may limit, suspend or remove an app, or revoke its secrets, if it breaks these rules or the full terms, or if it puts creators, viewers or the platform at risk. We usually warn first; suspension can happen without notice when needed to stop harm. To appeal, email [email protected] within 30 days with your app's client ID.
Full terms
You agree to these when you create your first application:
- Xive Developer Agreement: the contract for using the developer platform, including your licence, data rules, liability and termination.
- Xive Developer Policy: the detailed rules for apps and chat bots.
The Xive Terms of Service and the Community Guidelines apply as well. When the agreement changes materially, the Console asks you to agree again before you create another app or secret. Bots for Xive Hubs follow the separate Hub developer terms.
