Overview
This Cookie Policy explains how we use cookies, local storage, and similar technologies on thexive.com and in our mobile applications. The Xive platform is owned and operated by Velaris Management Group LLC, a Kentucky limited liability company (“Xive,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). It sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains what we do with personal information generally.
The short version: we keep your session and your preferences in your browser’s local storage, and our network security provider sets a small number of cookies needed to keep the site online and free of bots. We use Google Analytics on the website to understand how the Service is used, and we show advertising from Google AdSense on the website. Our advertising is non-personalised: an ad is chosen from the content of the page you are looking at, not from your browsing history, and we do not build an advertising profile about you. You can switch both off in the consent control described below.

What we actually store on your device
On the web, the Xive application stores the following in your browser’s local storage rather than in cookies. It stays on your device until you sign out, clear your browser data, or it is replaced:
- Your signed-in session, which is what keeps you logged in between page loads. Without it you cannot use an account.
- Your cookie and privacy choices, and the date you made them, so we do not ask again on every visit.
- A record of whether your browser sent a Global Privacy Control signal.
- Interface preferences such as your light or dark theme, and stream overlay and playback settings.
- Short-lived state about a live stream you are currently watching or broadcasting.
In our mobile apps there are no cookies. The equivalent information is held in the operating system’s secure storage and standard app storage.
Cookies set by others
Some cookies on our domain are not set by the Xive application itself:
- Network and security cookies set by Cloudflare, which fronts our site. These identify automated traffic and mitigate attacks, and are strictly necessary to keep the Service available.
- Payment cookies set by Stripe when you are on a payment page it hosts, governed by Stripe’s own privacy notice.
- Sign-in cookies set by our identity provider on auth.thexive.com while you are authenticating.
- Analytics cookies set by Google Analytics, on the website only, when you allow the analytics category.
- Advertising cookies set by Google, on the website only, when you allow the advertising category. Because our ads are non-personalised these are used to limit how often you see the same ad, to produce aggregate reports, and to detect click fraud — not to target you.
Apart from Google Analytics and Google AdSense on the website, we do not embed marketing pixels or social media tracking widgets in the Service. Our mobile apps contain no advertising or analytics software development kits, and we do not show advertising in them.
Categories and your choices
Our web consent control groups technologies into four categories so that your choice remains meaningful if our practices change:
- Strictly necessary — sign-in, session integrity, security, and remembering your preferences. These cannot be switched off if you want to use an account.
- Functional — interface and playback preferences.
- Analytics and performance — Google Analytics on the website, used to understand which features people use and how the Service performs. Off unless you allow it.
- Advertising and measurement — non-personalised advertising from Google AdSense, on the website only. Ads are selected from the content of the page and coarse location, never from your browsing history. Cookies in this category are used for frequency capping, aggregated reporting, and fraud prevention rather than for targeting. Off unless you allow it.
We use the analytics and advertising categories only where you have opted in through this control and where the law permits, and we update this policy before a category comes into use.
You can also control storage at the browser and device level. Most browsers let you refuse or delete cookies and clear site data; doing so signs you out and resets your preferences. Where your browser or device sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we record it as a rejection of all non-essential categories without showing you the banner.
Retention
Local storage entries persist until you clear your browser data, sign out, or we replace them. Your session entry is cleared when you sign out. Security cookies set by our network provider expire on their own schedule, typically within hours to a few weeks.
EEA, UK, Switzerland, and similar regimes
Where the ePrivacy Directive, UK PECR, or similar rules require consent for non-essential storage on your device, we ask for consent before using anything beyond what is strictly necessary, and you may withdraw consent at any time by changing your choices or clearing site data. Storage that is strictly necessary to deliver a service you requested does not require consent, and that is the category almost everything we store falls into.
We do not serve advertising to visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland.
United States state privacy laws
Certain U.S. state laws regulate the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information and targeted advertising. We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising: our advertising is non-personalised and is selected from page content rather than from any profile of you. We honour Global Privacy Control and similar opt-out signals as described above, and a Global Privacy Control signal switches advertising off.
Updates
We may update this Cookie Policy when our practices or providers change. The “Last updated” date reflects the latest revision. Material changes may also be summarised in-product or by email where the law or our Terms require.
